INFO: This is an American made Mosin-Nagant M91 bolt action rifle in 7.62x54mm cal. The M91's were manufactured by three Russian and three foreign arsenals during the early 20th century, and this model is an example of the New England Westinghouse arsenal in the United States. Manufacturing for the imperial Czarist Government of Russia began in 1915 by the New England Westinghouse Arms Co. Thousands were manufactured and shipped until the Russian Revolution in 1917, at which foreign contracts were negated by the new Communist Government. Many of these rifles saw action and would be indicated by an "SA" marking. A number of these firearms were captured by the Finns (Finland) in the 1939 war in which Russia invaded Finland. They were inspected and used by Finland in WWII upon reentering the war. These old bolt-action rifles were put into long-term storage after WWII and were then surplus in the 1990's by Finland and imported into the United States for sale to collectors. This rifle does not have the "SA" markings and therefore did not see action in WWII, nor was it captured by Finland. This rifle was acquired prior to WWII.
This rifle is in very good condition and has been maintained fairly well. Includes curved rear sight, blade front sight, hex receiver, smooth action, matching serial numbers, a nice wood stock with only minor handling marks and dings, the New England Westinghouse markings, a nice barrel with minor wear, a good bore with minimal wear, and a green sling. The barrel is 31" with a 13 1/2" pull and is a very nice rifle overall with a great deal of history behind the model. This would be a great collection piece and is a prime example of an American made Mosin-Nagant.
